ABOUT US

History of Department:

History of Art, founded in 2010, is one of 15 departments of Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Ongoing to accept students our department in the coming years. And it is aimed to give education to the students during 4 years in Turkish.

The Aim of the History of Art Department:

Whereas Anatolian has been the centre of important civilizations in almost every period of history, it is the richest region of the entire world with the history and culture left us by these civilizations. Making researches on the art styles and the chronological development of Turkish art in this region, educating researchers on this field are also the missions of Department of Art History. We aim to give education to raise qualified historians. Also it is aimed to determine, certificate and archive centres of population belong to middle ages locate in Nevşehir which has been an important centre in Anatolia since the old ages.

Mission:

We are trying to educate qualified and expert Art Historians that will take a part in searching the art works in the region and Turkey and transferring these works to the next generations. 

Vision:

The main goal of our Department is to give insight to the students about art within a specific cultural background, develop the sense of Art History in our country.

Main Fields of Graduated Students:

The candidates successfully completing the undergraduate degree can study in their fields or graduate programs in related fields provided that they take the necessary note for Ales exam and have sufficient English language skills.

The department’s graduates work as a expert in public institutions, in conservation boards, in museums under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and so on; the graduates, who know foreign language well, can give their guidance services in the field of tourism provided that they take "Counseling Certificate" and the students completing the teacher certification can be Art History teachers in the schools of the Ministry of Education.
